Dear Groundworks Ministries friends and family,
The past couple of months has been very busy for Groundworks Ministries! THANK YOU for your prayers, support, and for continuing to journey with us through God’s Word every day. We can see that Holy Spirit is growing your faith, enhancing your Biblical value system, and preparing you for the Kingdom building that He is calling you to!
Groundworks Ministries focuses on Discipleship and Biblical literacy by fostering community in non-church environments. We use a daily chapter-by-chapter approach to Bible pursuit and meet weekly for fellowship, teaching, and discussion.
Our nation desperately needs REVIVAL, which begins with one person who commits to reading God’s Word every day. Your commitment to daily Biblical pursuit allows the Holy Spirit to teach you. He transforms your values to transition from being a consumer of ministry to becoming a contributor of ministry to help fulfill the Great Commission.
PRAISE REPORTS, PRAYER NEEDS, & ACTION ITEMS:
1. Mid-Week BIBLE CHALLENGE Study - An overwhelming number of people have asked me to resume the “live & in-person” Wednesday Evening Bible Challenge Study. Last fall, around 725 people signed up for our Wednesday evening class at Bellevue Baptist Church when the leadership decided not to resume in-person meetings. Many of the class attendees were not Bellevue members but simply local sheep looking for the “Purina” of God’s Word.
Beginning Wednesday, September 1st at 6:30 pm, we will resume weekly meetings. We are finalizing details about the location, so be watching for an announcement in mid-August!
Our Wednesday study Facebook group has grown worldwide from 1400 members to over 2500 members since the Covid shutdown began in March 2020.
**Please PRAY as we finalize details of our meeting place that the Lord will continue to accommodate the growing number of people who are hungry for God’s Word.
Here is a link to all of our current Groundworks Groups.
2. Travel - In mid-June, my friend & former pastor Greg Laurie invited me to lead worship for two weekends at Harvest Kumulani in Maui, Hawaii. Not only was Maui a much-needed time of family retreat & refreshment, but I also had the opportunity to share the vision of Groundworks Ministries with several local & national ministry leaders. I returned to the mainland with a renewed vision and vigor for equipping people to disciple others. Of course, because of the functionality of our Groundworks Groups, I was able to teach our weekly meetings even while on a Pacific Island!
**Please PRAY for an open door for Groundworks Ministries to develop a network of Groundworks Groups in Maui for people who are seeking God’s Word daily, meeting each week to discuss the Bible, sharing the gospel, and doing life together.
In mid-July, I traveled to Southern California to lead music at Calvary Chapel High Desert in Hesperia. I have ministered through music & mentoring at CCHD almost every year since 2001. The folks at CCHD are like family to us, and their love, generosity, and passion for teaching God’s Word have forever melded our hearts together.
While in Southern CA, I met with other local church ministry leaders, and we discussed the need in our culture for people to be in God’s Word daily. Again, because of Facebook Live, I was able to teach our Groundworks Groups from California!
**Please PRAY for an open door for Groundworks Ministries to continue developing a network of Groundworks Groups in Southern California; people who are seeking God’s Word daily, meeting each week to discuss the Bible, sharing the gospel, and doing life together.
3. Audio/Video Podcast - We are moving forward on a Groundworks Ministries audio/video podcast. Meetings are scheduled in August to discuss production and editing costs.
**Please pray for the funds for the equipment and production needs. Pray that God will send the right people to help us execute this endeavor.
4. Upcoming surgery - I will undergo rotator cuff surgery on Monday, August 2nd, in Atlanta. Misti and I will stay there for a week with our dear friends Dr. James Merritt and his wife, Teresa. Thankfully, James recently had this surgery done by the same doctor, so he & Teresa will know how to help Misti & me get through this tough week.
**Please PRAY that the surgery will be “routine,” that I won’t be negatively affected by the anesthesia, and that my pain will be manageable.
There is so much in store for the future of Groundworks Ministries. We need your PRAYERS, PARTICIPATION, and ongoing monthly financial SUPPORT to continue. If your faith has been elevated through Groundworks Ministries, please consider supporting us financially.
